Starting November 21, all Nokia Asha 501 users can download the IM (instant messaging) application through a software update.

WhatsApp is extremely popular, because it is a cross-platform messaging app that uses your data or Wi-Fi connection in order to send free messages to other WhatsApp users. Yet, annual subscription to the service will cost you $0.99 after the first year, which is free.

After you download WhatsApp and log in for the first time using your Nokia Asha 501, your phone will automatically find and add contacts who are already using the messaging service.

Asha 501 will be the first device on the Asha Platform to support WhatsApp.WhatsApp is now available for the Nokia Asha 501 and will come pre-installed on the Nokia Asha 500, Asha 502 and Asha 503 when its out.

Process of mobile number porting

  • The process starts when the subscriber, who wants to migrate,  send an SMS from his phone to 1900 mentioning PORT followed by his mobile number.
  • On receipt of the above SMS, the existing service provider will send a confirmation message to the subscriber showing Unique Porting Code (UPC). This code will be valid for 15 days.
  • After receipt of UPC, the subscriber will fill up application form quoting UPC and submit the form to the new service provider of his choice.  The application form can be collected from the outlets of the new service provider. The subscriber needs to attach all the required documents showing id, address proof and photograph. TRAI has fixed a fee of Rs 19 for migration which is payable to the new service provider. The application needs to be submitted to the new service provider within the expiry date mentioned in the SMS.
  • After the receipt of application form from the subscriber, the new operator will forward the same to the MNP clearing house.  The clearing house will get a confirmation from the existing operator whether the number can be ported. After getting the confirmation, the clearing house will fix a time and date for porting.
  •  MNP is available to both pre-paid and post-paid subscribers. Post-paid subscribers will have to clear all pending bills before migration. The pre-paid subscriber will be losing the balance amount, if any,  in his account.
  • If there is no due,  approval for porting will be given. The subscriber will get a SMS showing the time and date of porting from the existing operator.  
  • After migration to the new operator, the new operator will also send a SMS to the subscriber confirming migration.
  • TRAI has mandated that Mobile number migration should be completed within four days
  • There will be least disturbance to the service during the period of migration. Phone services will be disrupted for a maximum of two hours during the network switch-over. This no service period will be between midnight and 5 am to avoid inconvenience to the subscriber.
  • Once the process is over, the subscriber cannot migrate to another service provider during the next 90 days.

After much delays, BlackBerry have finally rolled out BBM for Android and iOS. BlackBerry Messenger hit Google play store and iTunes today early morning. Pre-registered users can start using it right away. But others have to wait in the long line of waiting list.

This time blackberry is rolling out BBM in a phased manner to avoid overloading BBM servers due to overwhelm demand. As per latest reports over 6 million users have already downloaded BBM within 8 hours of its release.  Over 6 million users have pre-register for BBM before its release. They can start using BBM right away by creating BBM pin.

BlackBerry already have over 60 million BBM users on blackberry platform. As per current trend BBM is adding more than 10 million users per day on Android and iOS. More than 10 billion messages each day are send using BBM.
